I seen this Doctor in King George Hospital on 28th August 2019. He explained me why I am here. He said I am in very early stage so I can cover up by regularly check up. He is very cooperative and very helpful person. He encourage me that I don't need any further treatments. Once again thanks for this Doctor.

Had a Urology appointment at Queens today 5th August 2019 and was lucky to see Mr Anand Kelkar. He explained everything in such detail and gave the information in a way that I could understand. I left the hospital reassured that I was in safe hands. I cannot fault the care I have received in any way. Anyone seeing Mr Kelkar should be delighted that they will be under such good care.

I recently attended an Outpatient appointment on 12th July 2019 at the Urology Clinic at UCH in Westmorland Street, London. A Pet scan and MRI scan confirmed positively that my prostate cancer had returned following successful radiotherapy treatment two years ago. My appointment on the 12th was to discuss with a Consultant what my treatment options could be. I was seen by a particular Consultant, and within three minutes of speaking with this Consultant? I felt I had arrived at a total dead end - dead being the operative word. He had zero percent of compassion towards me. He addressed me in a very abrupt manner and suggested that I would need to see another Consultant as if he couldn't see the point of me being there. I was very confused and felt completely lost. Based on the terrible feeling that this so-called Consultant had left me with by his attitude. The other Consultant I eventually saw was a Mr Anand Kelkar who was perfectly delightful. He explained everything and assured me that there are options and that this was not the end of the road for me as I seriously thought at first, before I spoke to him. Mr Anand Kelkar has definitely won my respect! Thank you. Noel

A good doctor who took time to listen to all my concerns and gave me more courage about my imminent surgery.

A routine BUPA medical scan showed slightly raised PSA levels resulting in me being referred to Mr Kelkar. An MRI scan was inconclusive but showed cause for concern and a subsequent biopsy showed prostate cancer. After consideration of the options I had robotic surgery in July 2017 to remove the prostate. I am delighted to say that the surgery was successful, I quickly made a full recovery, everything was fully back to normal within 2 to 3 months and since the surgery my PSA levels have stayed very low. I was able to start returning to work (office based) after a few weeks. As a very keen cyclist I had been concerned as to whether I may have to stop, but was back on the bike within a few months of surgery and quickly back up to full mileage. Whilst the process and follow up were certainly not pleasant Mr Kelkar spent a lot of time throughout explaining what was happening, the types of prostate cancer, the implications of the Gleason scores, the options available (radiotherapy or surgery). He also arranged for me to meet other specialists to explore all options fully. Mr Kelkar had videos and computer models to illustrate the points he made and demonstrate the pros and cons of the alternatives. At all stages he gave me all the time I needed, would fully answer all my questions in terms that a layman like me could understand, and had a very supportive and considerate manner. Overall, Mr Kelkar’s support, care and manner was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend him. Quite literally a life-saver for me - I cannot speak highly enough of what Mr Kelkar did for me.
